Aegina
Town

On
approaching Aegina town by sea, the first sight people see is that
of the small and picturesque church of Aghios Nikolaos which sits on
a jetty on the waterfront. The harbour was built by Capodistrias using
the stones from the ruins of Kolona. |

Marina

Aghia
Marina is a centre of tourism on Aegina. The resort is particularly
popular at weekend with Athenians escaping the city.
There
is a wide sandy beach in Aghia Marina. It also has the advantage of
the surrounding forests which protect it from the Northerly winds. |

Kipseli

Four
Kilometres from the port of Aegina you will find the village of Kipseli.
Kipseli is prosperous, having extensive pistachio and almond orchards.
The main characteristic of this village is the great number of byzantine
and post-byzantine chapels. |

Marathonas

Halfway
on the road from Aegina town to Perdika you will find the village of
Marathonas. Most of the houses in Marathonas are built upon the mountain
from where you have an amazing view over the sea.
Marathonas has two perfect beaches. |

Mesagros

From
the monastery of Aghios Nektarios the main road from Aegina to Aghia
Marina continues through the fertile area around the large village of
Mesagros (the middle fields). There are several pottery works in and
around the village, and they sell directly to passers-by.

Pacheia
Rachi

Visit
the quiet old village of Pacheia Rachi. Situated next to Mount Oros
at 225 metres. Wander through the few little streets and see some really
old and some very nice newly built houses.

Perdika

On
the Southern edge of the island lies the small fishing village of Perdika.
This is perhaps
one of the most picturesque spots on the island and still has the characterictics
of the Aegean Sea-style of square houses and narrow streets. Many restaurants
to eat fish. |

Souvala

Souvala
is located on the North East coast, about
10 km from, Aegina Town. It is predominantly
a tourist resort for many Greeks, some of whom have second homes there.
The climate is good an dry and the area is surrounded by a beautiful
landscape
full of big pine-trees and calm beaches.
